3.8 Final Making

[more images coming soon!]

Today we wanted to make the final elements of the flowers that we have been creating. We started by unpacking all the beautiful clay flowers that had been fired over the weekend. It was so existing to see how they shined with the glazes and how the colours had changed quite a bit in the kiln. We talked about how the flowers could have stems and leaves that could be decorated with bright colours, complimenting the more muted tones of the clay.

Everyone first worked on the stems, painting wooden dowels with fine, intricate patterns, before moving on to leaves that we draw onto paper before cutting out and decorating with patterns and text. We wrote about what we had been doing and left messages on them for the public to find and read.

We finished the session by looking at what everyone had done and discussing our next steps and how we could join all the different made elements together.
