James and Maria's Trip to the Olympic Freeusable Site

Today me and Maria wen to visit a site where lots of materials left over from the olympics are stored ready for reuse by artists and community projects. There where some amazing things, as well as lots of normal things that where exciting just because of the quantity!

Our main purpose for going was to see if there where things there we could use for the project, but also, more widely to get us thinking about making and materials in general. We found the trip really inspiring and were able to generate lots of initial ideas based on each item we saw. In particular, we wanted to think of making activities that related to what everyone had been talking about in previous sessions at the school, and what we saw on the trip. For example, seeing some large sheets of glass available at the site reminded us of all the amazing reflections that there where in the canal water along our route.

Along with all our ideas we left the site with a couple of examples of very practical smaller objects, both of which suggested to us ways that we could install small art pieces within the land scape - clip on plastic lights and steel adjustable feet that we thought we could turn upside down, stick into soft ground and use as a fixing plate.
